Samsung S3 finally hit the hot button

In the past week most of the major flagship stores of Samsung fully sold out. Even it’s accessories also being cleared in some shops.  Personally I need to try the 5th Samsung store only able to get a classic. Lucky it is the one that I would like to get for this round.

Taken a lot of my thoughts before deciding to upgrade from S2 to S3. The 1st major difference will be it’s dial. A massive 46mm that I personally preferred as more masculine.  However, S2 remained favourite if really into running as it is lighter and slimmer than S3.

S3 however now built in GPS on board where you may can workout without carrying the phone.  Picking up a call while I am holdings packets of grocery back from weekly shopping.  

IP68 with military grade protection suit my training from under the water to running, cycling and possibly rare extreme sports.  

Both Classic and rugged dial are now come with standard 22mm customizable strap. I like it very much as you can easily change the strap without using any tools at all.  Especially now it is possible to customize to a classic from sport for business meeting.

Longer battery life indeed I am a little in doubt as I tried barely 2 days with normal use. This is equivalent to the S2 and may be just 10 to 20% more for the S3.

If for those into Hiking, Barometer and altimeter are included in S3.  I am trying to discard 3rd party applications. But features that bundled together with the watch out of the box.

Switching between S2 and S3 is also a brilliant feature previously not available from Gear S to Gear S2.  Now whenever either is pair with the phone. So health will automatically switch to the right model.

Finally, voice recognition to create a reminder is very useful to me. Idea sometimes can be just a moment and gone from your mind.  If you can record down your idea or next tasks. It is a booming productivity practise. 

Bali – a place where people make a difference

It is my 1st time to Bali after years of friends recommendations.  Our first impression of the island is Mount Agung. Later we only told it is one of the active Volcano on th3 island.

We visited not in the best month as everyday is raining in the afternoon.  Our local tour guide suggested the best time will be in September.  Our planned date to visit Mount Batur hit with heavy rain and foggy.  Even we were so close yet visibly we cannot see anything at all from the view point.

On our way back we managed to visit a Luwak Coffee plantation. While rain was drizzling and with a cup of Luwak Coffee made up the day.

The local chili source are my favourite. I cannot stop having this as my companion in every of my dining during my stay.

As usual, I also tried a local Beer called Bintang.  Kind of surprise that the beer is a Hugh standard blonde.  Crispy, balance hoppy taste and aromatic after taste.  Not a best of the best but good enough as an easy to reach commercial Beer. 

After all, the best moment will be with my Twins, eldest son and wife at the beach. Yeah, it was our first time with the babies and eventually all got sun burn!  The 1 year old Twins are really enjoying nature.

The best experience of the whole visit came from the local people. They are always smiling, always welcome tourist to visit. Passionate and helpful.  I think so far one of the best place I believe I will resist again not because of the island. But it is the local people who make a big difference.

Nasi Lemak and Teh Tarik Ice in Frementle 

After walking around and found one of the exciting restaurant – Royal Malaysian Cuisine.  A first look that may be very authentic due to its halal sign. The people running the restaurant was good. Very polite and helpful.

As on the food, my first order a Teh Tarik Ice. Stunning taste with “Kurang Manis” can be comparable to those in Malaysia.  Perhaps I will rate it 110% as to normal standard.

However, as for the nasi lemak. My favourite being as a Malaysian.  Everything looks good except it is already localized for the local. Tasty but one major issue it is not spicy at all.  The peanuts are not those “goreng kacang” and with carrots!  That’s right sounds weird to a Malaysian. 

I told the highly rated staff there.  In fact, localisation may not be the good thing for nasi lemak. When we eat steak in Malaysia. We are also looking for authentic taste but not localized steak house.  Even local Aussie friends of mine staying in Perth also like to eat spicy.  Another great Malaysia restaurant in Blue Creek “Ah Wong” full of people due to its original recipe like in Malaysia. 

I will still go and try again other dishes and I am expecting much spicy, strong taste like those serve in Malaysia. 

Capo for higher pitch..

Alright, at a stage now got to pick up Capo for playing higher pitch.  Found this made with Aluminium which ultra light weight.   Smaller size that don’t disturb my Holding too much.  Easy to put on and with great price of course.

Samsung Gear VR – my first virtual reality experience

After years of unjustified high price for such device. Finally Samsung has made it for the mass market with the price of RM 321 during promotion.

The build is much using plastic.  Interface to use it while your mobile is on it consider fine.  After used for more than 10 minutes.  The phone significantly getting hot especially on S6 compare to S7 Edge.

VR quality depending on the video or photo quality.  Uses Internet to access Facebook 360 photos, Vmeo and even some downloadable free photos and videos are good to have a feel about the meaning of VR.

Personally I feel that the quality is not satisfying with HD is preferred when using Gear VR.  I suggest you further put on a Bluetooth headset while watching movies or playing games.  Sound effect from your phone is definitely disappointing.

I particular like the 360 videos as it’s allow you to have the real feel of VR.  Even though quality is pretty much so so. However for the price of RM 321 during promotion is just amazing.

Overall a good piece of equipment to have a feel about VR.  Possibly years down the road.  VR will become a reality of all games and videos.  The best thing we like is the Cinema feel while watching videos.
